President manual
For how AudioGameAccess works in general, open the general manual with F1 from the main menu. To go back to the game, close this tab, or switch to the AudioGameAccess window with Alt+Tab.
The game
President, called Trou de cul in Quebec French, is played by 4 to 7 players, with a 52-card deck and its two jokers. The goal of each round: get rid of all your cards first.
President is in Offline games, Create a table, Card games, then President. It is played offline, against bots, or with others at the casino, in Online games. It is the same game either way.
The rules
- All the cards are dealt, one at a time, starting on the dealer's left. Some players therefore have one card more.
- The order of the cards, from lowest to highest: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, jack, queen, king, ace, 2, then the joker. Suits do not matter.
- Whoever leads a trick plays one card, or several cards of the same rank: a pair, three of a kind or four of a kind.
- The next player must play as many cards, of a higher rank, or pass. A card of the same rank does not beat: you must pass.
- A joker beats everything, even four of a kind, and it is always played alone. Nothing beats a joker, not even the other joker.
- Whoever played the highest cards wins the trick and leads the next one. When a trick ends depends on the options: by default, a trick lasts one round of the table.
- The first player with no cards left becomes President, the second Vice-President. The last one still holding cards is the Scum, the one before the Vice-Scum. With more than 4 players, those in the middle are Citizens. A player who goes out plays no more until the end of the round, and the trick goes on without them.
- The points of each round: 5 to the President, 2 to the Vice-President, 1 to each of the others, 0 to the Scum. There is no limit: the game lasts as long as you like.
- In the next round, the Scum deals. Then they give their 2 best cards to the President, who gives back their 2 lowest, even if that breaks a pair. The Vice-Scum gives their best card to the Vice-President, who gives back their lowest. The game makes these exchanges by itself and tells you the cards given and received. The President then leads the first trick.
- In the very first round, a draw decides who starts: everyone draws a card from a deck without jokers. The ace counts 1 and the king is the highest; suits do not matter. The highest card starts; on a tie at the top, the tied players draw again.
The game options
At your table's menu, the second line is Game options. Each line gives an option and its value:
- End of a trick: one round (the default); until everyone passes, playing again after passing allowed; or until everyone passes, with no coming back once you have passed.
- First round: a draw decides who starts (the default), or whoever holds the 3 of clubs starts.
- Revolution: no (the default) or yes. With the revolution, four of a kind turns the order of the cards upside down: the 3s become the highest and the 2s the lowest, until the next four of a kind or the end of the round. The joker stays above everything.
- Time to act: no limit (the default), or 5 to 60 seconds. The countdown warns you before the end. When time is up, you pass; if you are leading the trick, the game plays your lowest card.
Enter opens the list of choices, the current one under the cursor; Shift+Up Arrow and Shift+Down Arrow also go from one choice to the next, and you hear only the new value. Confirm keeps your options for your next tables. Restore the default options puts back all the starting values. Escape leaves without changing anything. A saved table keeps its options.
On your turn
When it is your turn, the game says so in one phrase, with what you must beat and the first group of your hand that beats it: "Your turn to beat two 8s: two queens." To lead a trick: "Your lead: two 3s." If nothing in your hand can beat the table, the game passes for you and says so: "Nothing to beat it: you pass."
- Up Arrow and Down Arrow: go through your hand, one rank at a time, from lowest to highest: "a 7", "three 9s", "a joker". The game says "First" and "Last" at both ends. Home and End go to the start and the end.
- Left Arrow and Right Arrow: when you lead a trick, how many cards of that rank to play. By default, all of them. When you follow, the number is set by the table: the arrows remind you of it.
- Enter: play the chosen cards. If they do not beat the table, the game tells you and nothing is played.
- P: pass.

- Q: leave the table, after a confirmation. The game is saved.
- Escape: the pause menu. Offline, it stops everything, the time to act included; online, see below.
Offline, with bots
In Offline games, choose Create a table, Card games, then President. You arrive at your table, presented as at the casino. It has 7 seats.
- B seats a bot, Shift+B sends one away. At least 3 are needed, to make 4 players.
- Start the game begins the draw, then the first round.
Each bot has its own character, drawn at random: more or less careful with its best cards. It leads with its low cards, follows with the smallest combination that beats the table, and keeps its aces, 2s and jokers to take the lead back or to finish. The game announces each bot's turn, "Bot 2's turn", then what it plays.
The table saves itself between rounds: if you close AudioGameAccess in the middle of a game, you will find it among the saved tables. Control+S and Q also save it, where it is. Your tables are in Offline games, Saved tables, Card games, President. Enter seats you at the table again, then Resume the game takes it up where it was; Delete deletes it, after a confirmation.
With others, online
At the casino, choose Create a table, Card games, then President. The table has 7 seats; at least 4 players are needed to start, bots included. The table's administrator adds bots with B, chooses the Game options in the table's menu, then starts the game.
- The server shuffles, deals and referees: no one sees your cards, and no one can cheat. The card exchanges between the President and the Scum are heard by those two only; the others hear only how many cards are given.
- Your keys are the same as offline. Before each move of another player, the game says whose turn it is, then what they play. The server waits until the table has had time to hear each move before going on to the next.
- With a time to act, the server keeps the time: when your time is up, it passes for you, or plays your lowest card if you are leading, and you hear it in one phrase.
- Escape opens a menu: Resume, then for the administrator Pause the table, or resume it, then Leave the table. The pause stops everything for the whole table: the turns and the time to act. Your own Escape stops nothing but your screen: the game goes on.
- If your connection drops, you have one minute to come back, and you take your seat again where the game stands. After that, or if you leave the table, your turns play by themselves: you pass, or your lowest card is played when you are leading.
- Whoever arrives during a game watches it as a spectator, and will play in the next one.
- The game has no end: it lasts as long as you like. Control+S, for the administrator: the game goes into their saved tables, and goes on. It is resumed later from the casino's Saved tables, with the same players. X, for the administrator: the game stops for the whole table, and its save is erased.
The sounds
- For now, President uses the card sounds of the poker: the deck being shuffled, the deal, a card played, a player passing, a trick gathered. Each move is heard from the player's seat around the table.
