The story

Marcel has been a farmer for forty years. This morning he is taking his animals to the market in his old truck. On a road full of potholes, a crate falls off: you are the hen that gets away. Run as far as you can before Marcel catches you.

Feather Flight is in Offline games, Create a table, Skill games. You play it alone.

How to play

The hen moves forward over strips of land, one behind the other: meadows, roads and railways. Each strip has five columns. You start in the middle of the first strip.

• Up arrow: jump forward, onto the next strip.
• Down arrow: go back one strip.
• Left arrow and Right arrow: jump from one column to the next.

The hen jumps when you release the arrow. A jump takes a fifth of a second; what you do during a jump is lost.

On iPhone, swipe one finger up to go forward, down to go back, left or right to change columns.

At the edge, left, right or behind the first strip, a short sound tells you that you cannot go farther.

What you hear

• Cars, trucks and trains: each one passes along its strip, from left to right or from right to left, and you hear it come, pass, then go away. The farther the strip ahead of you, the fainter it is: beyond five strips, it is not heard. A strip behind you fades out very quickly.
• The horn: when you stand on a road, the first vehicle of a group honks one second before it reaches you, from the side it comes from. Jump!
• The bell: on a railway, the level crossing's bell announces a train. It passes about three seconds later, and it is long.
• Trees: in the meadows, a tree may block a column. Each tree sounds at its place, once a second, up to three strips ahead of you. If you jump into it, you bounce back to where you were.
• Gold coins: they sound at their place too, up to five strips ahead of you. To pick one up, jump onto its square.
• Your steps: a different sound in the meadows, on the road and on the rails.

With 3D sound at the headphones, every sound is at its place around you, and Marcel's truck comes up behind you.

Marcel

Marcel follows you and gains one strip every second. Each jump forward sends him back: 30 strips behind you at first, then 20 after strip 50, 10 after strip 100 and 7 after strip 150. If you dawdle, you hear his truck come up behind you during his last ten seconds, then he catches you. He also catches you if you go back three times in a row.

The score and the Mega Hen

Each new strip reached is worth one point, and each coin one more. S says your score at any time. Your best score is kept.

Collect 15 coins and you become the Mega Hen for fifteen seconds: a giant hen that crushes cars, trucks, trains and trees. She cannot go back, but Marcel stays far away. A roar warns you one second before the end. It comes again every 5 coins. The coins' sound rises as you get closer to the transformation.

Achievements

Seven achievements, announced the first time: Legs on Fire (over 100 strips), Feathered Rocket (over 200), Golden Egg Hen (1,000 coins in all, from game to game), Back to the Coop (caught by Marcel), Omelette (hit by a truck), Last Stop (hit by a train) and Mega Hen.

Keys during the game

• Arrows: move.
• S: your score.
• Enter or the Space bar during the introduction: skip it.
• Escape: pause.
• Shift+F1: the instructions, spoken.
• F1: this manual.

On iPhone, the phone vibrates when you touch a tree or a vehicle (Vibrations setting).
